hi friends! well, well, well, this blog has sat vacant long enough, eh? the last posts were all about nursery design, so i guess it’s pretty obvious that instead of blogging about home remodels we’ve just been playing in that beautiful nursery with the long house’s newest resident, a boy we call puddin. life is certainly different (yes, everyone said it would be, and nope, we didn’t believe them for a second! ahh, the cavalier first time parents, thinking we’d be totally unaffected by life’s newest adventure.) with the rebuilding of the mash handmade website, and truly missing finishing and writing about projects over here, we have decided to marry the two into one world.
since 2011, the long house blog has been about rehabbing our mid-century ranch into a functional, beautiful, sometimes funny little space to live in. we will definitely keep those posts coming, especially now that puddin’ will soon be able to hand us the screwdriver (and “organize” the hardware when we’re not looking)! so much of what we do here on the blog carries into life at mash handmade, where we chat with customers about their own spaces and send them home with goodies to dress their houses up.
going forward, you can look for occasional tutorial, a “mash at home” feature (our products, your house…send us your pics, we’re dying to see where your finds end up!) and what we envision will be a seamless flow from work into life. after all, mash handmade is a family business, and the long house is all about making our house a home. our two generations (mama and papa mash, and me and beej, aka miss and mister mash) are bonded by a love of making. making things better, making things from scratch, making things up, making life full. we’re happy to mix the two together here, and to welcome you along for the ride.
