camille's ribbon flowers
Camille OBryan-Herriott lives in Seattle with her husband and son where she lives the life of a zealous housewife. She received an MFA in Fiber Arts from the University of Washington, and has since applied her experience and creativity toward the realm of the home. As an academic housewife, she feels she has finally reached a balance of work and application, where art happens for lifes sake and life happens artistically.
Camilles Ribbon Flowers represent flagrant prettiness and heartfelt romanticism, hearkening a lost age of femininity. In every way she tries to capture an irony, an otherwise dying flower, and freezes it in the best quality color and texture she can find. The density of texture and richness of color has satisfied Camilles creativity in ways previous mediums have failed. Their preciousness and daintiness of them strikes an inner chord for her, representing the best and most fleeting properties of life.
They serve as decorative mediums with an intent that history has seemed to have forgotten; to promote posterity and frame the beauty of nature within our homes and upon our persons. Their applications are innumerable within the domestic realm and that of the person, from Christmas garlands to hair combs.
She invites you to find your color and try it on. Does it illicit a joyful response? Perhaps it is because Camille makes these with the beauty of hair, skin tone, and individual personality in mind, knowing that for each flower, there is an equally colorful and beautiful wearer. She has made them for you, though she has not met you yet!
