Up in the Air Somewhere is Chicago-based artist and designer Susan Dwyer. After graduating from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she focused in sculpture, Dwyer began creating a line of ceramic and papier-mâché vessels inspired by the clean, minimal lines found in industrial architecture. The silos, warehouses and watertowers that dot the Chicago landscape are transformed into elegant vases, votives and planters. Because they are individually hand-built, every vessel has its own organic, one-of-a-kind character.
