jaime rovenstine
From felt bears to fabric creations, painting to photography, Jaime Rovenstine likes to keep lots of irons in the fire. She received a BFA in Fine Art from Columbia College Chicago in 2008. She recently returned closer to her Kansas roots and is now working and making art in Kansas City, MO.

"My work is inspired by my personal past and present. My personal history inspires themes of home, family, domesticity, childhood memories, and my Midwestern upbringing. I tend to romanticize my heritage and the lives of my ancestors, who lived in small rural towns, sustained by farming and the railroad. I am presently influenced by “naïve” and folk art, as well as traditional women’s handiwork, specifically quilting and embroidery. These influences are manifested through the representational imagery I layer into paintings or the objects I choose to embroider into fabric: a house, a piece of furniture, a television, or railroad tracks. There is often a sense of nostalgia and longing created by the imagery I choose."
